Basket weave, a simple yet gorgeous knitting technique, can be used for making all types of hand-knit garments and accessories including cardigans, hats and scarves. The block pattern involves casting on the required number of stitches (multiple of 8+3) and then alternatively knitting and purling certain number of stitches in each row. The alternate knit and purl stitches produce the block design that makes the pattern look like that of a woven basket. It is ideal for making dishcloths, table mats and cushion covers as well for the fluffy fabric it produces.
